Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith announced the father of a five-year-old missing child has been arrested for possession of explosive devices.

Smith said the father is in the Walker County Jail after the explosives were found inside the home during the search.

Johnathan Everett Boley was last seen with his six-year-old brother and their black lab when the little boy and the dog crossed a fence line and disappeared. The brother went to tell his dad that the boy had crossed the fence line, and when they returned, investigators said the boy was nowhere to be found.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) issued a missing child alert, stating that Boley is believed to be in danger.

Walker County deputies have been searching the woods and ponds in the 7000 block of Highway 195 in Jasper. They have used helicopters equipped with thermal imaging and have not spotted the child.

Smith is asking people in the area to check their cars and the structures near their homes, but to stay away from the house due to the threat of explosive devices in and around the home.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Walker County Sheriff’s Office at (205) 384-7218 or call 911.
