The father of a 13-year-old killed along with her mother is blaming the court system and DHR for allowing the violence in the Auburn home.
Zy’nnya Wright was found dead with her mother, Tyeisha Williams, on July 7. The suspect – Zy’nna’s stepfather, Aaron Williams – was later arrested.
Wight’s biological father, Lance Wright, told WTVM his daughter was trying to protect her mom when she was killed. He said the suspect had a criminal history including an attempted murder charge. He said he had warned local authorities to no avail.
“I made it to the scene. When I got out of my vehicle, the first thing I said was ‘I told him to get my child out of that house,’” Wright told the news outlet. “I put 100% blame on the Lee County Family Court system and Lee County DHR for failing my daughter. They gave him the green light to kill my daughter.”
Wright said he feared his daughter would be hurt and tried to have her removed from the house.
"I asked them, begged them to take my daughter out that house,” Wright said. “Because it’s just a matter of time that he was going to do something to somebody.”
DHR has not responded to a media request.
Williams is considered innocent until proven guilty.
