Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Kash Patel is transferring 500 agents from Washington, D.C. to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville.

According to NBC News, the redeployment is expected to happen soon.

The announcement comes on the heels of U.S. Sens. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) recently urging Patel to fill 1,000 of the open slots at FBI's campus in Huntsville on Redstone Arsenal.

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) said, “I applaud FBI Director Patel’s commitment to Making America Safe Again and his rightful recognition that FBI Redstone is the best place to carry out that mission.”

“North Alabama has proven time and again that we are willing and able to answer the call, with a second-to-none workforce, state of the art facilities, and room for growth,” Strong said.

Britt called Patel’s decision “great news.”

“Great news! Our dedicated @FBI agents should be out enforcing our laws, not sitting at desks in Washington DC. And there’s nowhere better for them to work from than FBI-Redstone in Huntsville!” Britt said on X.

Tuberville also cheered the move.
