MOBILE — The FBI Mobile announced that nine of 10 subjects suspected in the Operation Jamaican Knights fraudulent lottery investigation have been taken into custody.
The FBI held a press conference Thursday, saying the operation has been a large-scale and multi-agency investigation.
"Up until this week, we had prior seven arrests that many of y'all have documented," said Parker Steele, FBI acting special agent in charge for the FBI. "I want to report we have two additional arrests to report this week. So, subject number eight and subject number nine have both been arrested."
Peter Walcott, Malik Chambers, Romario Nembhard, Jermaine Smith, Sheka Walcott, Kaysia Turner have been arrested.
The names of others arrested will not be released until the FBI obtains formal charges.
Investigators believe the suspects scammed victims nationwide out of more than $200,000 by making them believe they had won the lottery. Victims included the elderly.
