A fiery ball in the sky was reportedly seen moving across Alabama and the Southeast on late Thursday morning.

According to a spokesperson for the National Weather Service in Charleston, the satellite-based lightning detection shows a streak within cloud-free sky over the North Carolina-Virginia border, over Gasbury, Va. This streak was detected between 12:51 p.m. to 12:56 p.m.

The fireball was spotted across the Southeast, according to Atlanta's 11Alive.

The object is likely a meteor or space debris, according to multiple reports.
