Long-time college football commentator and syndicated sports talker Paul Finebaum is considering running for U.S. Senate in 2026.

Finebaum, who recently purchased a $5.1 million home in Mountain Brook, said during an interview with Outkick's Clay Travis on Monday, “It is very intriguing. I’m thinking about it constantly.”

“To say, I’m considering it, of course. Yes. It's something I can’t say I’ve dreamed about. I can’t say I’ve thought about it. I’m not a career politician that has it all mapped out. This is something that just came to me. It’s also very late. I don’t know what to do with it. As far as your question, would I give up what I’m doing? I would have to,” Finebaum said.

He continued, “I just moved and registered in Alabama, but I am a registered Republican in North Carolina as of this hour. And I was a registered Republican in Alabama before I moved.”

The ESPN radio host told Outkick that he had discussed running with some people from Washington, D.C., and became "a little bit more interested" after Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk's assassination.

"One or two people in Washington had reached out to me about whether I would be interested in politics, something I never thought about before," Finebaum stated. "Something I didn't really think possible. I gave some thought to it as the [after Kirk's murder] weekend unfolded and got a little bit more interested."

"One thing I don't want to do as I sit here as a talk show host is to sound like a politician, because I'm not. At least not yet. I've been speaking to Alabamians for 35 years," he later added. "I feel like I know who they are. I think they know who I am… you cannot hide when you're on a radio show."
