Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer's name continues to be mentioned as the one to watch for Michigan's recently opened head coaching position, and ESPN's Paul Finebaum thinks the coach should consider taking it if the Crimson Tide fall to the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff.
During a segment on "Get Up," Finebaum warned DeBoer that winter after a four-loss season at Alabama would "be very cold."

“Certainly, Kalen DeBoer’s people ... are putting out the feelers or the word that he is not interested, but that is to be understood. We are one week away from one of the most important games in his two-year tenure,” Finebaum emphasized.
He acknowledged that had DeBoer lost the Iron Bowl and thus missed the playoff, he would have been "looking for an exit."
“But check back on midnight a week from now," Finebaum added. "If Alabama wins that game, I think this goes completely off the board, and he moves on to the Rose Bowl to take on Indiana. But should Alabama lose, I don’t need to tell you what it is like for Alabama to have consecutive four-loss seasons. I think he would take a deep breath and perhaps look at it, assuming that job is still open, and I would advise him to look at it, because the winter in Alabama after a four-loss season for two consecutive years for Kalen DeBoer will be very cold.”
Alabama will kick off with Oklahoma on Friday, December 19, at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the College Football Playoff.
