SEC Network's Paul Finebaum regrets his efforts to vouch for Alabama being deserving of getting into the 12-team College Football Playoff over the likes of SMU.
In a Wednesday appearance on ESPN's "Get Up" reacting to Alabama's loss to Michigan, Finebaum waved the white flag on Alabama and admitted he was "done" after saying the Crimson Tide were more deserving last month.
Finebaum said first called Kalen DeBoer's first year replacing Nick Saban a "mess" and added that fans he knew were "hopping mad" about how the season played out.
“[I] led the Alabama parade to get them into the playoffs. You know that," he told host Mike Greenberg. “I stood on every building, especially on this show, and on the first day of the new year, I’m surrendering. I’m waving the white flag.”
"Forget Alabama!" Finebaum added while waving a white towel. "I'm done. Count me out."
