Notes: In the past two weeks, Andalusia beat the teams ranked No. 1 (Montgomery Catholic) and No. 2 (Anniston) in the state when the regular season ended. … Andalusia played in the state championship game in 1975, 1976 and 1977 but hasn’t returned until this season. … Cherokee County is making its fifth championship game appearance. The only championship game win came in 2009.

Class 2A

Saraland road to Super 7: Beat Wetumpka, 48-14; Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, 56-31; Homewood, 57-56 (OT); Theodore, 21-6.

Notes: Saraland’s starting lineup is peppered throughout with talented sophomores. … Saraland made the championship game in 2014 and 2018 but has never won a state title. … Mountain Brook’s state championships came in 1975 and 1976.  Running back Major Oglivie, who went on to star at Alabama, was an all-state player on both of the championship teams. … Mountain Brook allowed 50 points in four playoff games with the bulk coming in a 49-30 quarterfinal win over Hartselle.
