Flora-Bama is selling "Gulf of America" shirts following President Donald Trump's comments that he would rename the Gulf of Mexico.
Flora-Bama co-owner John McInnis told 1819 News that the merchandise was more of a way to show that they were proud to be Americans than a political statement.
"The reality is, regardless of how people feel, the name's changed and it is the Gulf of America," McInnis said. "We at Flora-Bama, even though people may think that's a little political, we don't think it's political and we stay away from that, but we are absolutely pro-American and we're 100% unapologetic about loving our country."
McInnis said the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

"We're saying we do love everyone and everybody's got a right to their own opinion," he added. "At Flora-Bama, we're all one, and we're all Americans, and we leave that stuff and politics at the door and just love one another and respect one another, regardless of political opinion."
The T-shirts will be available in-store by the end of the month. However, anyone can purchase them now online starting at $27.
Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon also voiced support for the name change. He posted an Inauguration Day photo from the "Gulf of America," holding a United States flag and his fist in a "fight" position.
