Foley City Council District 3 member Roderick Burkle was sworn in this week after being the only candidate in the seat for the 2025 municipal election.
The seat was left vacant following the death of Councilman Richard Dayton on August 21.
Burkle took the oath of office ahead of the two newly elected councilmembers.
Burkle, a lifelong Foley resident, spent eight years on the Foley Planning Commission and currently serves on four city boards and the Foley Public Facilities Cooperative Improvement District. He served with the Foley Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years as a firefighter and officer. He is also a real estate broker.
Tim Lower will be sworn in for the District 2 seat, and Larry Engel will be sworn in for the District 4 seat on November 3.
District 1 Councilman Wayne Trawick and District 5 Councilman Charles Ebert III both won re-election.
Mayor Ralph Hellmich was also re-elected after running unopposed.
