The 2025 Baldwin County Public School System Staff Institute was held on Friday in Foley to welcome more than 4,000 educators back to school.
The school system will start school Monday.
Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich and his wife welcomed the teachers, staff and other school employees to the Foley event Center. He thanked Superintendent Eddie Tyler and the Board of Education.
“Thank you guys for bringing this event to Foley," said Hellnich. "We are so proud, Mr. Tyler, that y'all have this in the city of Foley. I appreciate it and it's something that we're so proud of here.”
The mayor's wife, Jo Hellmich, a retired teacher, was also at the event.
“I just want to say that every year that I get to do this is such an inspiration,” Hellmich said. “The only time of the year that I get to speak to 4,000 people is today, and they're enthusiastic and they're excited and it's just powerful in this room. I'm happy to be here.”
