A delivery driver who is in the country on a student visa is now facing charges after a juvenile drowned.
The Prattville Police Department said Majoj Chitta is accused of delivering alcohol to the juvenile on June 3. A short time later, the juvenile drowned in a swimming pool.
Investigators said they found text messages between Chitta and the juvenile outside of the delivery app’s platform. They said Chitta did not verify the juvenile’s age.
“An investigation conducted by the Prattville Police Department determined that the juvenile had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol prior to entering the swimming pool,” police stated.
Chitta, 24, was arrested and charged with sale of alcohol to a minor and criminally negligent homicide. He is being held in the Autauga County Metro Jail with no bond. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
