A former Faith Academy guidance counselor was sentenced to probation and a $500 fine for failing to report suspected sexual misconduct to the proper authorities.
Carrie Meredith was sentenced to six months after the victim in the case told the Mobile County Court her innocence was stolen from her.
District Attorney Keith Blackwood said Alabama law requires trained professionals to report concerns about possible abuse or sexual misconduct involving a child. His team asked for jail time to set an example for mandatory reporters to take accusations seriously.
