He is a pastor by trade. He long ago reformed from what he describes as a “reckless party lifestyle” as a teen. He is full of ideas for a moral Alabama and America.
In 2022, pastor Dean Odle of Cusseta ran for governor. He lost. It marked the last time that the winner, Gov. Kay Ivey, could run for governor, as she is term-limited by the state constitution. There is an open seat for governor in 2026. Alabama will elect a new governor.
Now, Odle has set a “special announcement” for Saturday, January 11. While he has not said what the announcement is, speculation is that he will make a second run for governor in the 2026 Republican primary, which will be on Tuesday, May 25, 2026.
In a social media invitation to the announcement, Odle said, “We live in ever-increasing perilous times. It is imperative that we prepare for the days ahead. Please join Dean Odle for a special announcement concerning the future of Alabama.”
“There is a time for all things," he added. "There is a time to preach and a time to fight. Now is the time to fight.”
The announcement will be in Montgomery at Hilton Garden Inn, 7665 Eastchase Parkway from 2 to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited; no ticket or RSVP is required.
Odle serves as pastor of Fire and Grace Church in Opelika. His website for his ministry is www.deanodle.org.
He has written three Christian books: "Like Clay Under the Seal," "The Polluted Church" and "Grace Abuse."
