A former Mobile County deputy has been indicted on 16 charges following a new indictment handed down this week.

Daniel Holifield, a former sergeant, was indicted on three counts of first-degree theft of property by deception.

Holifield was previously indicted on 13 counts of theft of property and possession of forged instruments. He was arrested on those charges in 2023 and indicted in 2025.

Holifield was arrested again on Thursday for the new charges. He bonded out of the Mobile County Jail on Friday morning, according to jail records.

District Attorney Keith Blackwood said Holifield is expected to be arraigned in Mobile County Circuit Court in the coming weeks.

"When someone is entrusted with serving the public, they are expected to uphold the law and act with integrity,” Blackwood stated. “These allegations represent a serious breach of that trust. Our office will continue to pursue these cases wherever the evidence leads and seek accountability for any criminal conduct uncovered.”

Holifield is accused of using Mobile County Sheriff’s Office letterhead and forged signatures of co-workers to purchase 10 vehicles. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
