The West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force arrested former pastor James Gorman Houston in connection to a child sex sting.
He is charged with electronic solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a minor for a sex act.
Houston, 66, pastored First United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa and Dauphin Way United Methodist in Mobile. During his time in Mobile, he was accused of ethics violations but resigned and was not investigated.
His father, J. Gormon Houston, Jr., was appointed to the Alabama Supreme Court in 1985. He remained a justice until he retired in 2005. He passed away in September.
According to multiple reports, Houston was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail but has since posted bond. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
