Former Samford wide receiver Kendall Watson signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. The Roughriders organization announced the signing on Friday.

The 5-foot-10, 183-pound Watson played a big role in leading the Southern Conference champion Bulldogs to the best season in school history. Samford won 11 games and advanced to the NCAA FCS quarterfinals. The Chattanooga native, who came to Samford as a walk-on, caught 88 passes for 1,034 yards with 10 touchdowns. He was selected to the All-Southern Conference second team.

Watson played in 47 games for the Bulldogs. During his career, he caught 167 passes for 2,084 yards with 14 touchdowns.

The Canadian League regular season is slated to begin in June.
