The South Alabama Veterans Council (SAVC) recently announced the death of former president Lou Lartigue.
The retired Lieutenant Colonel passed away Saturday at his home. Lartigue suffered a heart attack, according to SAVC president Robert Barrow.
“He had been doing relatively well since being released from rehab last week...in fact, I just had a long conversation with him this past Thursday afternoon, and he shared with me how thankful he was to all of you who visited with him and prayed for his recovery,” Barrow posted on Facebook. “He was anxious to get back to meeting with us and in good spirits.”
Barrow said CPR was administered, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.
Lartigue will be buried in the Spanish Fort Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
