Arguably Auburn's greatest weakness over the last four seasons has been along the offensive line, and the much-maligned group lost any experience it had following the 2022 season.

Hugh Freeze and his staff accepted the challenge and addressed the weakness on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal in the weeks following Freeze's hire. They did it again on Thursday, earning the commitment of former Western Kentucky offensive tackle Gunner Britton.

Britton can start immediately with one year of eligibility ahead of the 2023 season.

As the No. 5 offensive tackle according to the 247Sports transfer portal, Britton is a significant pick-up for the Tigers, who also have commitments from the No. 3 offensive tackle in the portal and the No. 1 JUCO offensive tackle.

According to Pro Football Focus, Britton allowed quarterback pressure on only 1.7% of his pass-blocking snaps, the fifth-best rate among FBS tackles in 2022.

Since joining the Hilltoppers in 2019, Britton has appeared in all but two games, earning a Conference USA All-Freshman team selection in 2019 and a second-team All-Conference USA selection in 2022.

Britton's commitment now makes seven commitments along the offensive line, including four offensive tackles. The group is a mix of early contributors and key depth along a line ravaged by injuries during 2022.
