The Auburn Police Department responded Sunday evening after anti-Israel protesters vandalized Auburn University’s entrance with chalk paint.
“From the River to the Sea” was drawn on the bricks at the beloved Toomer’s Corner. The brick lawn was also covered with other pro-Palestine expressions.
The vandalism was caught on Auburn’s live Toomer’s Corner camera.
As people around the college learned of the incident, several showed up to remove the chalk while displaying American flags.
Auburn Police confirmed they are investigating.
Monday is the one-year anniversary of the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.
"To do this on the eve of October 7 is inflammatory and done with ill intent," Jacqui Pearl, daughter of Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl, posted on X. "Those defending the message, claiming it’s ’just chalk and can be washed away’ are willfully ignorant. You must be exhausted from all the mental gymnastics you have to do to justify this. Am Yisrael Chai."
