Several law enforcement agencies offered assistance Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa for the Republican presidential debate. The purpose was to enhance preparedness by utilizing bomb detection dogs.
Among those agencies was the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. Their Explosives Detection Canine Team provided security assistance with K9 Alpha.
“This mutual assistance between law enforcement agencies is vital, ensuring the capability for a thorough, swift, and efficient response to potential threats,” said Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith. “We are thankful to serve.”
At home, K9 Alpha assists with events and performs sniffing sweeps at schools.
Explosives Detection Canines are specially trained to detect explosives, residue and post-blast evidence. They can also detect firearms, ammunition and accelerants.
