A 148-bed nursing home in Gardendale is closing following three inspections by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH).
ADPH inspected Magnolia Ridge in March, August and September. The March inspection was the first since 2019.
It is unclear what health and safety requirements were not met, but according to court documents, the facility tried to meet requirements. Leadership changes were made, and education was offered to ensure adequate oversight and care of patients.
However, regulators determined compliance was not reached.
Following the final inspection, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services revoked the business’s certification.
Magnolia Ridge filed for bankruptcy. The facility will have to lay off just over 100 people and relocate over 110 residents.
