In January 2025, Will Roberts, of Ralph, Alabama, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. The 15-year-old lost half of his leg to the aggressive bone cancer but has continued to fight.
Roberts posted a video on his mother's Facebook page, pleading for help from President Donald Trump or Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, saying it is likely the end of the road for him.
"It's a very, very, very deadly and very hard to treat bone cancer and my chemos are just not working and I've been fighting it for a little bit now, January of 2025," Roberts said. "And it's just not much is working. I mean, we've tried basically everything there is and we're getting towards the end of the road and I need help. Can y'all please just share this? Like, everything y'all can do to help get this video out to either President Donald Trump or Robert F. Kennedy Jr. That would just help me so much."
Roberts said his mother, Brittney Battles Roberts, discovered a new drug that could help, but the family is unable to access it. Roberts said while he doesn't think the drug can save him, he hopes something is done to help others.
"Chances are, this is probably the end of the road for me and they probably won't get it in time," he said. "But if this can help other kids with cancer, I would love to help in any way I can. But y'all, I'm terrified just like y'all would be if y'all knew that y'all were about to die. The cancer is just increasingly spreading, just spreading, spreading. The cancer's all over my body right now and all in my liver and there's really not much you can do to treat liver cancer."
The teen enjoys fishing and has made the most of every moment between chemotherapy treatments. His sense of humor and positive attitude have inspired thousands on social media. Meanwhile, he said he is worried about his mother.
"Y'all, my mom, she's just been having sleepless, sleepless, sleepless nights, just nights without any sleep and she's been researching and researching and researching every single night," Roberts said. "And I've walked in on her and like, she's been sleeping in my room cause this chemo that I'm on is making me really sick, but it's not very responsive. And y'all, I've called her a couple of times and she was just like bawling, but she wasn't trying to show it."
Roberts said he posted the video without his mother's knowledge. In just hours, the video was shared 25,000 times. Brittney Battles Roberts provides public updates on Will's journey on Facebook.
U.S. Rep. Barry Moore saw the video and was working late Wednesday to get the message to Trump.
