Early this week, two candidates took to social media to show their intentions to seek the Republican nomination for State Senate District 34 (SD34) in 2026.
Both former State Sen. Rusty Glover (R-Semmes) and former Mobile County School Board member Doug Harwell made overtures indicating a 2026 run.
"It’s comeback season and Coach is back!" Glover wrote on Facebook.
"Hey Friends!" Harwell wrote. "I’m running for Alabama State Senate, District 34. But I can’t do it alone! If you’re looking for a way to get involved and help make a difference, we’d love to have you on our volunteers team! Whether it’s helping at events, spreading the word, or just pitching in wherever needed, every little bit counts!"
The SD34 seat is currently occupied by State Sen. Jack Williams (R-Wilmer), who is seeking the Republican nomination for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries.
