On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned President Donald Trump's executive order limiting birthright citizenship in America, ruling 6-3 that the 14th Amendment grants citizenship to children of foreigners born in the United States.

The controversial verdict saw Republican-appointed Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Amy Coney Barrett join liberal Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson in striking down Trump's decree. Conservative justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch dissented, with Brett Kavanaugh opting to strike down the EO under federal statute. Roberts authored the majority opinion.

"The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, that has now been determined during this process," Trump wrote on Truth Social, adding, "No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary! Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship. They will have my Complete and Total Support!"

Following the bench's verdict, Alabama's elected officials, including U.S. Sens. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), weighed in on the decision.

Britt promptly called on Congress to "take action" on unlimited birthright citizenship.

"Extremely disappointed to see this decision come out of the Supreme Court today," said Britt. "Congress must take action and end unlimited birthright citizenship immediately. The majority of the globe does not recognize this form of citizenship that has been grossly exploited to the detriment of our country."

Tuberville argued the verdict will result in "chaos" for future generations of Americans

"Today’s decision from 6 out-of-touch Supreme Court justices on birthright citizenship will cause chaos in our country for years to come," stated Tuberville. "Ever since the Communist Left’s meltdown over Roe v Wade, some of our Justices have been scared of their own shadows. They should remember that their job is to go by our Constitution and to stand up for AMERICANS, not bow to the woke mob."

Moore, Alabama's presumptive next junior U.S. Senator, accused the court of "incentivizing" illegal immigration through its decision.

"This is an extremely disappointing decision out of the Supreme Court. The American people deserve an immigration system that serves the nation - not one that incentivizes illegal immigration. Congress must end birthright citizenship," contended Moore.

According to Fox News, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has introduced language for a constitutional amendment on the issue, with multiple conservative senators reportedly showing interest.
