The FBI Mobile recently announced the arrests of 18 suspects in two days involving the Gulf of America Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF).

The illegal immigration operations took place in Baldwin County on Wednesday and in Mobile County on Thursday.

The FBI told 1819 News that one arrest involved a pursuit that also resulted in local and state charges. A Guatemalan national attempted to flee in a truck and struck a tree.

"This is the end result of a Guatemalan national fleeing from the Mobile County Sheriff's Department with complete disregard for the surrounding community," the FBI stated.

The Gulf of America HSTF is comprised of Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, Border Patrol, the ATF, Enforcement and Removal Operations, the DEA, as well as state and local sheriffs' offices and police departments.
