GULF SHORES – The Gulf Shores City Council approved a one-year extension of the contract with Hangout Music Fest, LLC.
The council unanimously approved an amendment to the original agreement, ensuring the city council will have final approval of the genre of music and the festival name.
“The Parties agree that this Amendment is intended to provide an interim solution allowing the Franchisee to plan the 2026 and 2027 Music Fests,” the amendment reads. “The parties commit to good faith negotiation of a separate long-term franchise agreement that will commence upon the expiration of this Agreement.”
Residents will also receive free parking at Gulf State Park during the time the festival will impact public beach access.
The Sand in My Boots Festival will take place from May 14 to 17, 2026.
Following the 2026 festival, parties may agree to an additional one-year extension with the same terms. If that happens, the festival will be held from May 20 to 23, 2027.
The festival franchisee first entered into an agreement with the city in 2015 to bring the Hangout Music Festival. In 2025, the festival was changed to the Sand in My Boots Festival.
City officials said more aspects of the festival will continue to be discussed before signing another long-term agreement.
