The dueling endorsements from Second Amendment groups continue in the U.S. Senate runoff. Gun Owners of America (GOA) endorsed U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) last week, and the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) endorsed Jared Hudson earlier this week.
The GOA endorsement highlighted the congressman's strong record of supporting pro-gun legislation throughout his career. They noted that he has opposed unconstitutional firearm restrictions and advocated for policies that empower American gun owners.
"Gun Owners of America is proud to endorse Barry Moore for the United States Senate because he has consistently stood with law-abiding gun owners and fought back against unconstitutional attacks on the Second Amendment," said Erich Pratt, senior vice president of Gun Owners of America. "From opposing Biden-era gun control schemes to defending the rights of Alabama gun owners, Barry Moore has been a reliable voice for the Constitution and our God-given freedoms. Alabama voters can count on him to stand strong against the anti-gun agenda in Washington."
"I'm honored to have the support of Gun Owners of America," said Moore in a statement. "The right to keep and bear arms is fundamental to preserving our liberty, and I will never back down from defending it. As a gun owner, I understand that our Second Amendment rights are under attack by many career bureaucrats in Washington. I have always worked to preserve Alabamians' liberty, and I will continue to be a reliable and fearless defender of the Second Amendment as your next United States Senator for Alabama."
In its endorsement of Hudson, NAGR focused on his experience as a former Navy SEAL and law enforcement officer. The group noted that he has made defending the Second Amendment a central part of his campaign and pledged a 100% pro-gun record on the National Association for Gun Rights candidate questionnaire.
"Alabama is deep red, and gun owners here should not be asked to settle for 'good enough,'" said Dudley Brown, president of the National Association for Gun Rights PAC, in a written statement. "This is a state that should be sending champions to Washington, not politicians who wait for someone else to cut the trail and then claim credit for walking it."
Brown said the endorsement reflects NAGR PAC's belief that Hudson would bring aggressive, unapologetic pro-gun leadership to the Senate at a time when gun owners are looking for fighters, not caretakers.
"I am honored to have received an endorsement from the National Association for Gun Rights. The Second Amendment is not just about campaign commercials. It's about our freedom," Hudson said in a social media post.
"I'm a former SEAL sniper. I carried firearms professionally in defense of this country. I still carry them as a law enforcement officer, and I fully believe in the right to bear arms. It must ALWAYS be protected. The Second Amendment doesn't need quiet supporters on the sidelines. It needs vocal supporters who are willing to die for that right," Hudson's statement continued.
BamaCarry previously endorsed Hudson. Moore has been endorsed by Gun Owners of America PAC and the National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund.
