A 14-year-old girl was killed in an ATV accident, according to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office. The incident occurred at 7:10 p.m. Thursday on Kelley Road in Albertville.
Multiple agencies, including the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall Health Systems EMS, Pleasant Grove Fire Department, Guntersville Police Department, Guntersville Fire Department and the Marshall County Coroners Office Chaplain Service responded.
The girl was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner’s office said she was driving the ATV when it crashed on private property.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
“Our prayers go out to the family and friends during this tragic accident,” said coroner Cody Nugent.
Officials at Guntersville City Schools were contacted.
“Our hearts are heavy as we grieve alongside one of our Guntersville Middle School families following this tragic loss involving one of our students,” said Superintendent Brad Cooper. “This is an incredibly difficult time for so many and we continue to keep the family, friends, classmates and all those affected in our thoughts and prayers.”
“Counselors, social workers, teachers, school administrators and local spiritual leaders are available to support our students and staff as they process this tragedy together,” Cooper continued. “Additional counseling support will be available today and throughout next week. We encourage parents to stay connected with their children and reach out if additional support is needed. Our school counselors and administrators are here to help in any way possible.”
Cooper asked the public to keep everyone impacted in their prayers.
“During moments like these, the strength of our school community is found in how we care for and support one another,” he added. “We will continue walking through this together with compassion, love, and prayer.”
