The case against the Lowndes County sheriff brought by a county commissioner was dismissed for a second time.

Hayneville Municipal Judge Kameisha Logan dismissed the case largely due to jurisdictional and authority issues.

Sheriff Christopher West was charged with harassment and obstruction of government operations. According to multiple reports, Commissioner Robert Harris accused him of threatening language and claimed he disrupted a commission meeting in June 2024. The altercation between West and Harris occurred over a disagreement about office space for sheriff investigators.

Another judge dismissed the charges with prejudice after a trial last November. Harris filed a new complaint in February.

West’s attorney Richard Rice said the latest dismissal of the case proves the harassment claims are baseless. The sheriff’s team believes the charges are politically motivated.
