House District 11 GOP candidate Don Fallin says a vote for him is a vote against ever raising taxes.
Last week, Fallin announced that he had signed the Americans for Tax Reform's Taxpayer Protection Pledge, vowing never to raise taxes if elected.
"I was proud to sign the Americans for Tax Reform's Taxpayer Protection Pledge today! Under this pledge, it is my solemn promise to NEVER raise your taxes," Fallin posted to Facebook. "The best place for your money to be is in your pocket, not in Montgomery. April 15 may be tax day, but May 13 is a day that you can make a difference by voting for NO tax increases! You have my word on it."
The pledge started in 1986 under President Ronald Reagan as a way to hold politicians accountable for promises made while campaigning.
According to the Americans for Tax Reform website, other Alabama officials who signed the pledge include State Reps. Arnold Mooney (R-Indian Springs), Brock Colvin (R-Albertville), Ernie Yarbrough (R-Trinity), Mack Butler (R-Rainbow City), Steve Clouse (R-Ozark), Steve Hurst (R-Munford) and Susan Dubose (R-Hoover); State Sen. Shay Shelnut (R-Trussville); U.S. Sens. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn); U.S. Reps. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise), Dale Strong (R-Monrovia), Gary Palmer (R-Hoover), Mike Rogers (R-Saks) and Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville); and Gov. Kay Ivey.
Fallin is running against fellow Republican Heath Allbright in the special election GOP primary for House District 11 on May 13.
