Iron City Revival, a band made up of middle schoolers who were born to rock, released its first single across multiple streaming platforms.

The kids, aged 10 to 14, won the Battle of the Bands Openers division at WorkPlay and received four hours of studio recording time. The result is a cover of "Come Together" by The Beatles.

"It was actually quite fun," said drummer Trey Lockgart. "I got to play around with the drums a little bit and got to hang out with my friends. We got to meet the editor and it was pretty nice."

Lockhart's bandmates are lead singer Falynn Dugger, backup singer and guitarist Maggie Harrelson, electric guitar player Grey Rains and bass player Finn Nunnelley. The band was formed at Mason Music in Birmingham and was selected for the Rock Band League in August. After only a few months playing together, the band booked gigs and performed in the competition.

Lockhart said everyone is excited to share the recording and to ask Alexa to "Play Iron City Revival."

"It feels great, honestly," Lockhart told 1819 News. "It's like a big accomplishment knowing that you made a song for everybody in the world to hear. It's crazy to me. I never thought I would make it this far in drumming."

Iron City Revival is now working on original songs and hopes to play at fairs and other events this spring. In the meantime, Lockhart has a message for his fans:

"Just two years ago, I was just drumming and eating tacos, so definitely if someone is starting their drumming, I definitely recommend them to go all out and see how far it takes them," said Lockhart. "If y'all are doing anything in life, just push on through and see how far it takes you."

"Come Together" is available on Spotify, YouTube and Amazon Music.
