The Etowah County Sheriff's Office recently conducted the largest fentanyl seizure in the county's history.
The sheriff's office's ACE (Active Criminal Enforcement) unit conducted an interdiction operation on March 4. Deputies pulled over Tostig Denard Moore, 40, of Attalla, on Highway 431 South in the Glencoe area.
During the stop, K-9 "TEDI" alerted to drugs. During a search of the vehicle, investigators discovered two pounds of fentanyl.
"The dedication of our ACE Unit and partnerships with local and federal agencies continue to make a major impact in removing dangerous narcotics from our communities," said Sheriff Jonathan Horton. "This record-breaking fentanyl seizure demonstrates the effectiveness of proactive enforcement and highlights our commitment to keeping Etowah County safe."
Moore, who was already out on bond for a methamphetamine trafficking charge, is now back behind bars. He is charged with trafficking fentanyl and is being held in the Etowah County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
