A Birmingham church is getting attention once again for making controversial statements on its outdoor message board.
New Era Baptist Church, led by Rev. Michael R. Jordan, is known for its signs rather than its preaching of the gospel.
Last year, the church targeted black Trump supporters, calling them "stupid, ignorant negros." In 2019, the church said black Trump supporters had a mental illness.
Other signs have said AIDS is God's punishment to gay people and "black folks need to stay out of white churches."
The latest sign reads, “American racist police never shoot white men in the back or kill white women.”
The other side of the sign reads, “Homewood Police killed Jabari Peoples because of his black skin not because of a crime.”

That sign has sparked comments from high-profile community members, such as the man behind “Urbanham News,” pointing out the fact that the Jefferson County DA is a Democrat.
On X, Iva Williams of Urbanham News stated, “If the Jefferson County District Attorney, Birmingham Division was a Jefferson County Republican, I MIGHT believe this.”
1819 News has exhausted many efforts to reach the pastor of New Era Baptist Church for comment.
