A maintenance employee identified as Darrell Wade Alldredge at Hoover High School was arrested without incident on campus Thursday morning.

According to reports, officers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) took the employee into custody on charges of distributing obscene material.

Sources familiar with the situation told 1819 News that following the arrest, the school was swept by law enforcement and was deemed clear of any electronic monitoring devices.

As first reported by WBRC6, the school district immediately placed the employee on administrative leave and prohibited them from all Hoover City Schools properties.

Hoover High School officials released the following statement to WBRC:

“The district is cooperating with ALEA in their investigation as the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priority. We have no reason to believe that any of our students were involved, and there is no indication of any impact on school safety."

“We understand that situations like this can be concerning. We will continue to partner with local and state law enforcement as we remain focused on maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and staff.”

Alldredge is considered innocent until proven guilty.
