Hope Hull residents passed an incorporation vote in a special election on Tuesday.

According to preliminary results from WSFA, 150 people voted in favor of incorporation and eight voted against.

The vote allows Hope Hull to begin forming a government with a mayor and town council.

David Huneycutt told WSFA the incorporation effort was “about protecting the community’s rural identity and allowing residents to have more control over what happens around their homes.”

“The reason we have gone this road to turn it into a town is to protect our values, our country way of life,” Huneycutt told WSFA. “As we all know, the city of Montgomery is moving further and further south and annexing more property.”
