U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) appointed Jimmy Rane to the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission on Tuesday.
The commission is a nonpartisan initiative working to engage Americans in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. It was established by Congress in 2016 to plan and orchestrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 6, 2026.

Rane, who founded Great Southern Wood Preserving, is worth $1.2B and is the wealthiest person in Alabama.
This was just announced on the House floor.
Rane is the CEO of YellaWood, a member of Auburn University's Board of Trustees and the state of Alabama’s only billionaire.
The move was applauded by U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) and U.S. Reps. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) and Mike Rogers (R-Saks).
