The Huntsville Hospital Health System is set to acquire Crestwood Medical Center in a $450 million deal announced on Monday.
Per the agreement between Huntsville Hospital Health System (HHHS) and Community Health Systems Inc., HHHS will take ownership of Crestwood's medical center, freestanding emergency department in Harvest, 180-bed acute care hospital and other associated outpatient services.
"This acquisition continues our commitment to invest in the specific health care needs of our patients and community and in our employees," said Jeff Samz, president and CEO of HHHS. "We are committed to building on our more than 100-year legacy and continuing to invest in local access to high-quality, compassionate care."
"As our community continues to grow, we listen carefully to patient experiences and expectations. Our community wants and deserves options for more locally coordinated services and care... Acquiring Crestwood allows us to coordinate and align health care resources across the community," added Samz.
Justin Serrano, CEO of Crestwood Medical Center, said the transaction will help expand and strengthen medical care throughout the region.
"We are confident that Huntsville Hospital Health System will amplify the significant benefits that can be realized with locally coordinated care in Huntsville," stated Serrano. "This is a great opportunity for our patients and the community."
Crestwood Medical Center will continue normal operations through the completion of the acquisition.
Huntsville Hospital Health System said there will be no immediate changes to patient care, medical staff privileges or services.
According to HHHS, the acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
