Huntsville International Airport will soon receive close to $1 million for runway and safety upgrades, as well as “family friendly enhancements.”
According to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, the funding is part of a series of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants worth $1.776 billion.
“What better way to celebrate America than investing in its future,” said Duffy. “We’re ushering in the Golden Age of Transportation and rebuilding our airport infrastructure is critical to making that vision a reality. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are building an aviation system worthy of our country’s incredible history.”
FAA administrator Bryan Bedford believes the funding will help “modernize travel” across the country.
“The FAA is prioritizing improving our nation’s airports and ensuring we issue grants quickly and efficiently,” Bedford explained. “This funding does more than just rebuild runways and taxiways, it modernizes the travel experience for American families, ensuring our airports are safe and ready for the future.”
Huntsville International Airport will receive $971,090 to:
- Construct Airport Drainage and Erosion Control
- Construct a Taxiway
- Rehabilitate Taxiways
In total, Alabama airports will receive $15,458,878.
