The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has identified the suspect in a homicide that led to an officer-involved shooting.
Jon Savion Clemons, 20, of Huntsville, is the suspect in the shooting death of 19-year-old Kiriyanah Harris. Harris was killed on Sheri Drive on Tuesday.
After the shooting, officers spotted the suspect at the intersection of Pulaski Pike and University Drive. When they attempted a traffic stop, ALEA said Clemons presented a firearm. He was shot by police and transported to the hospital for treatment.
ALEA was called in to investigate the officer-involved shooting.
Meanwhile, Harris’s family said they are devastated by the loss of the nursing school student.
“She was dedicated, compassionate and had a bright future ahead of her,” the family stated. “Our family was so proud of her achievements and the caring person she was becoming. Tragically, her life was cut short by someone who did not want to see her succeed. The loss of Kiriyanah has left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.”
