The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) issued a traffic alert to all motorists who plan to transit through downtown Huntsville this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

In a statement, HPD said, "Weather permitting, motorists should expect traffic delays in downtown Huntsville on Saturday, March 16, for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Road closures will begin as early as 10 a.m."

The parade starts at Lot K on the corner of Woodson Street and Holmes Avenue and proceeds through downtown Huntsville. Other streets impacted include Jefferson Street from Monroe Street to South Side Square, Washington Street from Southside Square to Monroe Street, and Meridian Street from Monroe Street to Cleveland Avenue.

HPD asked drivers to please use caution due to heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic and to remember to drive imparied. All roads are expected to reopen by noon.
