The Huntsville Police Department has released information about a house fire where two bodies were found on Tuesday.
Huntsville Fire & Rescue responded to the scene in the 1100 block of Retlaw Street around 3 p.m. and found the bodies of a 21-year-old man and a 23-month-old baby.
Police determined the incident was a murder-suicide.
“Evidence at the scene, along with autopsy results from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, confirmed both victims died from gunshot wounds,” police said in a statement. “A firearm recovered at the scene was determined to be the weapon used.”
HFR’s Fire Marshal, along with HPD’s General Investigations and Major Crimes Units, worked the investigation.
The National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline can be reached at 988.
