Despite the Trump administration's best efforts of late, U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) remains concerned that Russian President Vladimir Putin's erratic behavior could lead to something more serious than his nation's conflict with Ukraine.
During an appearance on Thursday's broadcast of Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," Palmer said the proof was based on a Russian attack on a U.S. factory in Ukraine the night before.
"I'm almost at the point where I think Putin wants to start a regional war, if not a world war," Palmer said. "I think the guy is crazy. And they launched attacks last night — I heard it's like 600 drones last night. They hit a factory that's a U.S. firm last night, killed one person there. I think Putin, as he gets older, becomes more dangerous. And the other thing is, is I think that here's a country that's a fourth the size, maybe even a fifth the size of Russia, that has literally fought the Russians to a standstill. You look at the territory that Russia took in 2014, and Crimea, and the Donbas, and they have only marginally expanded that."
"So it speaks volumes that the Russian military is not the mighty machine that everybody thought they were. If it weren't for China and North Korea, I'm not sure Russia, and to a certain extent Iran, providing drones, the Russian military equipment was very subpar," he continued, "yet he persists in just trying to grind this out, and I'm hoping that President Trump's going to be successful in bringing the war to an end."
