U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has joined U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) to promote the so-called Assimilation Act, an effort to implement stricter vetting of immigrants and to end chain migration and the visa lottery.
During an appearance on Newmax2 TV's "The Big Take," Tuberville, who is also a candidate for governor in Alabama, reacted to Eileen Wang, the now-former Mayor of Arcadia, Calif., who is accused of being an illegal agent for China, which he said reinforced the need for his approach to immigration.
"Yeah, not just Communist China, but people from third-world countries that are coming here, and it's all about assimilation. It's all about coming here, like our German ancestors and Italians and the Greeks, and all the coming over years ago and saying 'Listen, let's make this country this — this is our country now. Let's make it better. Let's not fly our flags around. Let's go by the laws of the United States of America and make it better.' But the problem is our immigration system, Ed, is broken. It needs to be fixed, and I've got a bill out now called the Assimilation Act, and it prioritizes people that want to come over and assimilate. But it also does away with chain migration, does away with the visa lottery."
"A lot of this stuff we have is nonsense," he continued. "Go back to 1920, we didn't have any immigration. We stopped it, and if we have to do that to correct this problem we've got, which is huge, we need to do that. But we are losing our country every day because of the nonsense of these people coming from other countries, saying, 'Hey, we want to change this country to the country we came from.' Well, heck, you're doing that, why don't you just stay at home? We don't need you here. You're not ruining our country for. Folks, if you don't want to go by our laws and our Constitution, go back where you came from
