U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) is reminding fellow Republicans that unity with the left is currently not possible following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on a Utah college campus last week.

During a Monday night appearance on "I'm Right with Jesse Kelly," Tuberville told the show's host that conservatives calling for unity in the face of violence are interested in only one thing.

"People up here try to get re-elected," he said. "They're trying to pander to the base on both sides and trying to act like, 'Hey, we're here to try to help out. We're here to try to heal.' This group of liberals, they're a radical bunch that believes in changing this country to something that has never been."

Tuberville said that there's "no healing with the left" and delivered a message directly to Republican legislators on Capitol Hill.

"They don't want God in our country. They don't want to teach God in our schools," he noted. "To my Republican colleagues, if you're going to go out and make friends with them, all you're going to do is end up fighting on their side."

The lawmaker argued that Democrats have taken political violence to a new level, killing an innocent man in front of his wife and children.

"I don't believe we needed a fight. I hope it doesn't come to that," Tuberville said. "But let me tell you something. They have pushed the envelope here by killing a young man who was harmless. He tried to teach people the right things. He debated people. If he couldn't change their minds, he went on down the road and went to somebody else."

"This is serious business here. This is not about feelings. This is about somebody's life. And it's just unfortunate that Charlie had to pay that price for the things that he believed in," he added.
