Officers with the Huntsville Police Department arrested a 24-year-old illegal alien recently and charged him with 1st degree rape.
According to WHNT 19, the apprehension of Jesus Alejandro Lopez-Contrerasa took place Saturday at a residence on Harris Road after a child under the age of 12 was reportedly sexually assaulted on the property.
Lopez-Contrerasa is currently being held without bond under an immigration hold at the Madison County Detention Facility.
HPD's Special Victims Unit will continue to investigate the situation.
Additional charges are possible.
