The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed a 25-year-old man is charged with manslaughter after allegedly driving drunk and causing the death of a six-year-old child.
Zelvin Pavon-Gomez, of Honduras, was driving drunk on Baldwin County 28, near George Younce Road Monday when the GMC Yukon he was driving left the roadway and overturned. The crash happened at 3:08 a.m.
The six-year-old girl in the car with him did not have on her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
Pavon-Gomez is being held with no bond and an immigration hold in the Baldwin County Jail. He is charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
