Semmes Police recently arrested Antonio Antonio Rodas, an illegal alien, for allegedly driving drunk and causing a collision that killed Adam Luker, 19, about a week after the wreck.

Rodas, 29, is charged with murder and is currently in jail without bond.

Prosecutors allege that Rodas was driving 88 mph in the wrong direction of Moffett Road with a blood alcohol level three times over the legal limit on April 28 and collided with a car driven by Luker, according to Mobile Fox affiliate WALA.

Rodas was also charged with a DUI after a crash in 2021, according to court documents.

Will Phillips, an attorney who represents the Luker family, told WALA the federal government could have deported Rodas before the recent fatal crash happened.

“If that had been the case, then this would have never happened,” Phillips said. “You know, the federal government has access to all of the, you know, information about arrests and that kind of thing.”

ICE spokeswoman Sarah Loicano told WALA that the U.S. Border Patrol arrested Rodas near Hidalgo, Texas, in December 2018 and released him the following week with a notice to appear in immigration court.
