Indiana Gov. Mike Braun (R) recently gave a strong endorsement for U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) in his bid to become Alabama’s next governor in 2026.
Braun took office this year after serving with Tuberville in the U.S. Senate before making his move to state office.
Braun, as one of the more conservative members of the Senate, was frequently in lock-step with Tuberville in fighting certain leftist initiatives of the Biden administration from the then-GOP minority.
Braun announced his support for Tuberville in a joint appearance on Newsmax, where Braun emphatically stated that he has found himself infinitely more effective in his current office.
“I’m here to fully endorse Senator Tuberville, “Braun said. “He’s going to be the next governor of Alabama. And when he gets there, he’s going to be another example of how, probably, the states are going to do a lot more to shake this country up than relying on a place like this [Washington D.C.] that takes so long to get anywhere.”
“Here in Indiana, we’re already seeing what entrepreneurial conservative leadership can accomplish, and Coach Tommy Tuberville is just the man to deliver that same freedom and opportunity to Alabama," he added. "I know from our time working together in the Senate that Tommy is a fighter, never hesitating to stand up for the everyday men and women who sent him to DC. I know that he will lead with that same spirit and strength back home, and I am proud to give him my endorsement.”
“I am proud to be endorsed by my friend and former colleague, Governor Mike Braun,” Tuberville said. “President Trump is sending power back to the states. Governors have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drain the swamp and implement the President's America First policies at the state level. Governor Braun and I fought many battles together in the Senate — and I am looking forward to working with him again as governor."
